Meade County Fair Parade

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE fair time in Kentucky??  If you grow up in Meade County you know that fair time is always a huge deal.  I remember finding a way to be able to go every single day of fair each year.  The pageants, the demolition derby, truck and tractor pulls, food eating contests, the rides, and the FOOD--- I could never get enough.  Well....nothing has changed- I still LOVE the Meade County Fair.  I have not been able to be a part of it since 2007 when I was giving up my title as Miss Meade County Fair.  I was so honored to be in this year's parade as Mrs. Kentucky.  I ran into so many familiar faces and had a great time despite the awful heat (I'm just glad mother earth did not decide to "rain on my parade" ;))

I was representing Roberts Family Farm as well
as the Mrs. Kentucky organization

My man!

Ben and his Dad

I have the best Father-In-Law!  He drove me in his awesome
vintage truck.  We all had a fun time together.

Meade County Royalty!

This is my last appearance I am doing until after I return from Mrs. America in September.  I need to buckle down and finish my to-do list so that I am well prepared to represent our state at nationals!!!  The pageant will be live streamed online so I will keep everyone posted with the link to be able to watch. I am ONE EXCITED Mrs. Kentucky!!

Miss Owen County Fair Pageant

Last night I judged the Miss Owen County Fair Pageant alongside Mrs. Heart of the Bluegrass- Ra Caiya Darden and Susan- the director of the Adair County Fair Pageants.  We had a great time together.  All of the contestants were so beautiful... it truly was a hard decision to pick a queen.

Brides Against Breast Cancer

Today was a very special day for many brides in the Kentucky/Indiana area.  The nationwide "Brides Against Breast Cancer" event made its way to our area.  Annually this event raises over two million dollars to help support women living with breast cancer.  The gowns are donated by bridal shops and brides from all over our nation.  There were many vendors set up offering their services and many door prizes were being given away too!  All of the brides were so excited to be there and I feel so special to have been a part of this huge day for them.  One bride was shopping with her mother who is a breast cancer survivor.  Another bride was shopping with her father and told me her mother had passed from breast cancer.  These stories really made me realize how lucky I am to have my health and my family.  What a difference events like this can make for these families.  I am so touched by these ladies and their stories they shared with me.

I am always so lucky to have my Mom by my side
for all of my events!

All of the beautiful gowns

My first bride of the day, Paige, was SO sweet!

Mom was an awesome consultant.  You
would have thought she does this for a living!
Such a versatile woman;)

Look at who made it on the news!

Every time a bride said "yes to the dress" we rang the bell
Mom had the honor of ringing the very first bell of the day!

Happy Fourth of July!!

I hope everyone is having a Happy Fourth of July!! I know the weather is not what we usually want for a holiday like today, but I am finding ways to celebrate while relaxing and spending time with my family indoors.  Yesterday was a big day for me (it was mine and Ben's fourth anniversary) ...so today we are recovering from our busy day.  The rainy weather is pretty perfect for the relaxation mode we are in ;)

Since the MRS. Kentucky is all about being married I thought it was pretty important to include our anniversary in my blog.  This man means so much to me and I truly love him so much more than the day we married.  Our love continuously grows for one another and he never ceases to amaze me, surprise me, and never fails to always keep me happy.  He is definitely the perfect fit me me. I am so blessed he is my husband and best friend.

First off, he surprised me with breakfast at my favorite
place- Wild Eggs!!! I can never get enough of their
OJ and skillet potatoes. YUM

We then went to Massage Envy for a couples massage!

Next up- mani/pedi's to prepare our nails for this fun
and patriotic holiday!

We then went to see the progress of our house
and he surprised me with a picnic in the park.  I have
been dying to go on one--he truly thinks of everything:):)

The basket he packed was from Mom and Dad's wedding.
The blanket is from when Dad used to go on picnics
with Grandma.  How special is that!?

THEN the rain started...so we checked in to our hotel
at the Galt House and took to the streets of downtown
Louisville.  We LOVE O'Sheas, so we stopped in for a drink
before heading down to the waterfront to watch fireworks.

I couldn't have asked for a better anniversary!

Pageant Season!

I have had a fun past few days.  On Saturday, Ben and I were invited to attend the Miss Kentucky America Pageant on UK's campus.  It was so fun to watch all of the beautiful contestants compete for this prestigious title.  I have gotten to know and meet many of the ladies throughout my reign, so it was a blast finally seeing them on their stage and all glammed up! Congratulations to Jenna Day for becoming the new Miss Kentucky 2013.  She is absolutely gorgeous and her voice was definitely something to hear.  I look forward to following her journey to the Miss America crown.

Yesterday, I was asked to judge the Miss Pre-Teen Hart County Fair Pageant.  I competed in the "Miss" division about 5 years ago here, so it was exciting to return to their fairgrounds as a judge this time around.

This little cutie had just won her title in the pageant before the Pre-Teen
How adorable is she!?!?!

With the other judges.  They were very sweet ladies!! They work with
the Miss SOKY Pageants.  The Mrs. SOKY was my very first experience
with a "married" pageant- what a wonderful memory it is!

Here is your new Miss. Pre-Teen Hart County Fair! She did such
a wonderful job.  I want to wish her the best of luck at her state pageant
in the fall!
